Former hairdresser proves she still has it by working with care home salon
Margaret Perett, 89, relived her hairdressing heyday, spending time working with clients at Beechwood Grove Care Home’s Beauty Salon.
Though she now lives at Beechwood Grove, she was born in Manchester, where she ran a beauty salon with her sister, Dorothy, in the 1980s.
According to her, they made a good team.

Hide AdDorothy said, “We’d both been working for other people and we decided we wanted to work together so we started our own business.”
Margaret, who had been to art college, became famous locally for her creative hairstyles, whilst Dorothy was known for her skill with a pair of scissors.
She said, “Customers would talk about us when they were under the driers, not realising we could hear them.
“They decided I was better at cutting, but if they wanted their hair styled for a special event, then Margaret was the one!”

Hide AdDorothy was happy to see her sister, who moved to the care home last year, back in her element.
She said, “It was lovely to see her smile so much. She’s very happy here, the staff are so lovely. And she knows she can get her hair cut any time she likes!”
