BUSINESS AWARDS 2015: BBC reporter’s excitement at hosting awards

Nick Wallis, a reporter for The One Show on BBC 1, is also about to embark on filming a third series of Channel 5’s Caught on Camera.
However, he said he was especially excited about the chance to stand in front of a live audience at the Avisford Park Hotel on April 10.

Hide Ad“It’s always fun managing a room full of people when most of the time you’re talking to a microphone,” he said, adding he was looking forward to meeting all the businesses involved.
“I love hearing about success stories,” he said.
“I’ve a huge amount of admiration for people who go in and start up their own business.”
“It will be interesting – knowing the economy is allegedly picking up – to see how fledgling businesses and flourishing businesses have emerged to hold on to their trade and staff during a recession.”
Although he is more used to being in front of the camera, Nick is no stranger when it comes to hosting awards.

Hide AdThe former BBC Surrey breakfast host has also hosted the Active Surrey Sports Partnership Awards.
He said getting the respect of your peers was a ‘phenomenal achievement’ and he really loved this sort of thing.
“It’s good to be able to celebrate that kind of business flair.”
While working in Surrey he said he had come across numerous businesses and individuals it was a privilege to meet and see them appreciate what a fantastic job they had done.

Hide Ad“You can toil away for months and years without really recognising what you’re achieving because you’re focused on the bottom line and daily grind of getting the day-to-day done.”
He described nights like the business awards as ‘more rewarding’ than standing in a freezing cold street doing takes for the camera.
“I’m looking forward to hearing about and celebrating some of the best businesses in the south of England.”
