This week I had to attend the day surgery unit at the DGH. I would like to take this opportunity to say what a fantastic facility this is.
Well done DGH. Firstly, the cleanliness of the department must be applauded. We hear so much negativity about the state of our hospitals that when you find a good one they should be congratulated.
The staff at the DSU, from admissions through to surgeon, show great professionalism but are cheerful and friendly.
I was kept informed throughout the morning as to progress with surgery and to how long I would have to wait before it was my turn. The nursing staff were all very caring and kind – I really felt I was in safe hands. So to Jette and all the others I would like to say thank you for looking after me and hope that any other readers facing a day in the DSU will be comforted by the fact that they will be going to a well run, professional unit full of lovely people. – IAN BARTON, Eastern Avenue, Polegate.
