Thank you for the very nice piece you printed last Friday (June 20) about my retirement.
There was one very small mis-quote which may have confused some readers.
When I talked about my early career in London, I didn't say, as was reported, that "there was so little funding available that we used to make THE most of our teaching resources."
Take out the word THE and the meaning is as I intended – ie we actually made, from scratch, many of our own resources.
This would probably shock many young teachers who are used to their laptops and interactive whiteboards.
Thank goodness there's a lot more money in schools these days – but, sadly, it's still not enough. Bill Elms, Oakwood Primary School.
