Rare poster goes under hammer

A RARE poster promoting Eastbourne and Beachy Head as a holiday destination is set to go under the hammer next month at a specialist sale of travel and tourism memorabilia in London.
Neither the date nor the identity of the artist are known, but the scene seems to hark back to a gentler and more elegant era.
The auction is being staged by Christie's at its South Kensington saleroom on September 10 at 2pm.
According to organiser Sophie Churcher, the Eastbourne poster — Lot 173 — is expected to fetch between £700 and £900.
