Full programme for Battle’s Big Event

n Battle Camera Club Young Photographers Sports Competition, now until July 27.

This ongoing photography competition, targeting two age categories (Under 12s and 12-18 years), focuses on the theme of ‘Sports’. Entries to be submitted by July 2 for judging. Winners from the two groups will be exhibited at the club exhibition on August 25/26 along with prize presentations. Free to enter.

n Battle History as it Happens at Battle Museum of Local History, June 29-Sept 9.

Entitled the Young People’s Legacy 2012, this project for ages five to 16 aims to exhibit photographs and video, captured on mobile phones, which document Battle’s Big Event from start to finish. Photographs and video will be exhibited at the Battle Museum throughout the festival period. Prizes on offer. Free to enter.

A fun day for dogs and owners to compete for rosettes and prizes for first to third in nine classes and the prestigious Best in Show title. £1 per dog, per class. Free to spectate.

Battle Light Opera Group celebrate British musicals of the last 60 years with a concert of song and dance complete with cream tea.

Tickets £5 child, adult £10, includes tea.

n Claverham Community Week, Claverham Community College, July 2-6, 6pm.

Claverham Community College has teamed up with the East Sussex Music Service, Pestalozzi International Village Trust and Battle Arts to present a week-long programme of exhibitions and performances. There will also be open sessions of adult education classes in silversmithing, jewellery making, sugarcraft and cookery. Free.

Countdown the Fridays to the start of the London 2012 Games on four different walking routes in and around Battle. Walkers attending all four Battle Olympic Health Walks will receive a memento of the 2012 Olympics. Free.

n Crowhurst Games, Crowhurst Recreation Ground, Saturday July 7, 1.45pm.

An exciting selection of sporting games including archery, football and tug-of-war will be accompanied the lighting of the Crowhurst Flame at 2pm and entertainment from local band The Exiles at 6pm. Licensed bar and barbecue also provided throughout the day. Free.

Join and meet other local runners in a pleasant three to four mile run around Powdermill Woods. Free.

n Battle Ramblers Week of Local Walks, Battle Abbey Gatehouse, July 9-13, 6.30pm.

Battle Ramblers will lead a short walk each evening of the week, Monday to Friday. Dista
