Dismayed by plans for a 5G mast in Eastbourne
I am dismayed to see that there is an application to install a 5G mast next to Seaside Recreation Ground (Plan to Place Mast by Park, Herald May 22).
Being assured by a leading councillor, only a few months ago, that 5G would not be coming to Eastbourne for at least two years, only deepens my disappointment.

Hide AdWhile there are hundreds of studies (generally ignored by industry, government and commercially interested parties) to show that 3G and 4G have serious implications for health, there have been NO industry studies on the safety of 5G.
The 3G and 4G studies show that wireless technology is especially dangerous to children, and yet this application proposes to site a mast right next to a playground!
5G will add yet another (invisible) layer to the electromagnetic swamp we already swim in, with the only dubious advantage being the faster download of films on our phones.
And yet it is not simply another number on your phone, but a far more dangerous frequency which will require billions of antennae, many situated just outside our homes, to function.
The question we need to ask ourselves is this: is the extra speed worth the risks to the health of us, our children and grandchildren, and of every other living thing on the planet?
