Bereavement during the COVID-19 pandemic, with restricted movement and very limited contact with friends and family, is likely to be the hardest thing possible.

In response to this St Michael’s Hospice is expanding its services to provide a fast response call back telephone service.

The service, which is available to adults throughout Hastings and Rother can be accessed directly via a simple form on the St Michael’s Hospice website (www.stmichaelshospice.com/bereavement) or by phoning 01424 456361 and leaving a message.

A bereavement counsellor will then phone back the same or next working day to provide emotional support and give practical advice where appropriate.

No previous contact with the Hospice is necessary to be able to access this support.

One service user said: “I have just finished my weekly bereavement support on the phone. My counsellors help was invaluable and I feel so much better. It’s been especially helpful too during lockdown now that I am on my own.”

The call back service is managed Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm.
