Detailed plans for homes on former Bracklesham holiday park approved
South Downs Holiday Village in Bracklesham Lane closed back in 2016 and since then has been used as accommodation for seasonal agricultural workers.
Developers snapped up the site and an outline planning application of up to 85 homes was approved by Chichester District Council back in 2018.

Miller Homes is proposing 30 per cent affordable housing. This would be 24 units in total, of which 17 would be for affordable rent and seven for shared ownership.
Building heights would range from one to 2.5 storeys, with the development predominantly two storey, with one block of 2.5 storey flats front the focal square.
According to the developer’s application: “Overall the proposed development responds to the site’s unique opportunities and constraints and will deliver a development that accords with the approved outline principles although 80 dwellings as proposed instead of the maximum 85 dwellings.

“The proposed development provides an enhancement to the ecological value of the area as well as improved landscape amenity that combined with the proposed architecture and urban form of the local area will deliver a high quality development that befits its setting and character and therefore should be permitted.”
