Remembrance Day services held across Littlehampton

Respects were paid all across Arun including services in Littlehampton, Rustington, Angmering, Ford and East Preston.
There were many veterans among the thousands who filled the streets to honour those who have died in war.

Hide AdCrowds gathered at Littlehampton’s Town Clock to follow the traditional parade as it marched on toward the town’s war memorial, before the ceremonial laying of the wreaths.
The traditional two minutes’ silence was observed at 11am, followed by a service held at St Mary’s Church.
In Rustington there was a laying of the wreaths at Lych Gate war memorial, following a well attended service at St Peter and St Paul Church.
A service at St Margaret’s Church preceded the laying of the wreaths at the war memorial on Angmering’s town square.

Hide AdThere the day had an even further special significance for young Evelyn Olliver, ten.
She laid a wreath on behalf of St Margaret’s School in Angmering, where she is head girl – and did so wearing the medals of her great grandfather, Norman Clements, who served in five campaigns for the Royal Marines during the Second World War.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Britain and the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
