n POLICE are appealing for witnesses after damage was caused to a car in Seaford.
The Ford Fiesta was parked in the lay-by at Station Approach when the word 'peanut' was scratched into the bonnet of the vehicle.
It is believed the damage was caused between 5.15pm on Thursday August 14 and 11am on Monday August 18.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Seaford Police Station on 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 1089 of 18/8/08.
n TWO pairs of sunglasses were stolen from Specsavers in Broad Street.
Staff told police a man entered the store during the morning on Tuesday August 19 and took them without paying.
He is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build with short
dark hair, wearing blue denim jeans and a green khaki zip-up jacket.

n VANDALS have damaged a window at a charity shop in Seaford.
The main shop window to the Oxfam shop in Broad Street was smashed in two places.
The incident occurred between 6pm on Saturday August 16 and 10am on Sunday August 17.
Police are investigating this as criminal damage and are asking for any witnesses to contact Seaford Police Station on 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 1075, of 19/8/08.

n A SEAFORD resident has been bailed pending further investigation following a single vehicle traffic collision in Vale Road. The incident took place during the evening of Tuesday August 19 when a Ford Fusion crashed into a brick wall causing damage to walls, plants and a wooden gate. A woman was treated at the scene and was arrested after she failed a roadside breath test. Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Paul Semple on 0845 60 70 999.
n POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an attempted burglary in Alfriston Road.
The incident took place shortly after midnight on Thursday August 21.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Katherine Hughes at Newhaven CID on 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial number 626 of 21/8/08 or contact crime stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

n TWO elderly women had items stolen from them in two separate incidents in Seaford.
A 76-year-old lady reported her handbag being stolen from the back of a chair she was sitting on while shopping in Stead and Simpson in Broad Street.
Officers then received a report of a purse theft from a 70-year-old woman from Newhaven while she was shopping in the Scope charity shop in Clinton Place at around the same time.
Reports from other members of the public directed Seaford Police Community Support Officers Vicki Pidgley and Jack Bowry to the grass verges on the A259 leading down to Exceat Bridge. They were able to recover some of the contents of the stolen handbag and purse which are thought to have been discarded from a moving vehicle. The officer in the case, PC Richard Wilkes, is appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information can contact him on 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 729 and 863, dated 21/8/08.

n A BLATCHINGTON Road resident has contacted police after one of his windows was broken on Thursday (August 21) evening.
The incident took place between 8pm and 9.15pm and officers are calling for any witnesses to
contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 1804 of 21/8/08.

n TWO vehicles were damaged while parked overnight in the Vale Road/Vale Close area of Seaford.
The incident took place between 9pm on Thursday August 21 and 7am on Sunday August 22.
A red Vauxhall Combo Club van had both near side window's smashed and all four tyres damaged, while a white Ford Escort van had its window smashed and the interior entered and searched.
Vehicle examiners will be looking for any forensic evidence from the vehicles and anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Anna Southgate on 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 289, of 22/8/08.

n TWO men were issued with 'cannabis warnings' after being found in possession of the Class C drug.
Officers on foot patrol stopped and searched the 19 and 22-year-old in Seaford on Friday evening.
Both were found in possession of small amounts of herbal cannabis and issued with 'cannabis warnings'.
Guidance from the Home Office makes it clear that possession of cannabis is a criminal offence and offenders can be arrested.

n A 20-YEAR-OLD woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a bottle.
The incident happened outside the V Bar in Pelham Road on Friday evening.
The woman is reported to have been assaulted by an unknown man after he was involved in an altercation with her.
She sustained a small bump to her forehead and was taken to hospital for medical assessment and treatment. The injury is not thought to serious.

n POLICE are investigating the theft of alcohol from the Co-op store in Broad Street at the weekend.
The incident took place at around 5.10pm on Sunday when £10 worth of Stella Artois was taken.
The offender is described as a white man, aged in his early 30s, of large build with dark hair and wearing casual clothing.
Any information can be passed to the officer in the case PC Samantha Hill at Newhaven Police Station on 0845 60 70 999, serial 1210, of 24/8/08.
