THE NUMBER two in the world pairing of Cara Black and Liezel Huber won the International Women's Open doubles title with a thrilling tie-break victory over veterans Rennae Stubbs of Australia and Kveta Peschke from the Czech Republic.
In a battle of the top two seeds, Black and Huber, who hail from Zimbabwe and the United States respectively, narrowly ran out the 10-8 match tie-break winners, with the overall score standing at one set all.

It was a fittingly exciting end to a
fantastic week of tennis at Devonshire Park.

Peschke and Stubbs, who clinically dispatched of singles specialists Svetlana Kuznetsova and Amelie Mauresmo in the first round, looked in dominant form early on.

Gaining an early break to take a 2-1 lead, they raced away to take the first set 6-2.

But in a dramatic turn around, Black and Huber grabbed the initiative with an early break to take a 2-0 lead.

Stubbs was disgusted with the baseline line judge who called the lobbed winner in, and the pair appeared rattled en route to 6-0 second set drubbing.

With the games being decided with the next point after deuce, the match was decided with a tie-break.

Stubbs showcased her class and experience early on but a spirited comeback from Black and Huber saw the score tied at 7-7, following not only the rally of the match but quite possibly the tournament.

Huber then kept her cool to serve out the match, handing last year's Wimbledon champions their first title in Eastbourne.
