Eastbourne Borough's miserable run continued at Priory Lane tonight when they were beaten 2-1 by high-riding Kettering Town.
It was Boro's eighth defeat in 14 Blue Square South games and leaves them firmly entrenched in the relegation zone.

Borough found it hard going against a strong Kettering team but still had their moments in the opening 45 minutes.

Andy Atkin wa
s passed fit to play and the striker was involved in a promising move with Nathan Crabb in the 13th minute, but the end product failed with a mis-hit shot from Simon Wormull.

Nathan Crabb volleyed over following an Atkin flick-on, but the best chance came when Wormull crossed only for Atkin to scuff his shot from 10 yards giving keeper Lee Harper time to get down and smother.

The only goal of the half came in the 38th minute when a cross from Andre Boubaud was well finished by Chris Beardsley to put Kettering ahead.

Five minutes into the second half, Borough found themselves two down when Craig Westcarr's header from Beardsley's cross beat Lee Hook.

But six minutes later, skipper Paul Armstrong put Borough back in the game when he scored from six yards. After fine work by Ben Austin on the right, Matt Crabb picked out Armstrong who made no mistake.

Borough now had hopes of salvaging a point, but to the disappointment of their fans, they failed to really create another clearcut chance.

New loan signing Lyle Taylor replaced Wormull and when Atkin broke down injured late in the game, he was replaced by Allan Tait.

But even a Tait & Lyle partnership failed to sweeten a bitter night for Borough.
