Local footballer Clive Connell has received a five year ban from all football.
An FA hearing found Connell guilty of assaulting a match official while playing for Polegate Sunday outfit Dinkum Blades.
Connell, 39, is said to have attacked the Engineer linesman after receiving a straight red card for serious foul play. The unnamed linesman was left with blood pouring from a head wound.
Alongside the five year ban, Connell was fined £150. The ban will be reviewed after three years.
