Keeper crisis at United

Do not mention the word goalkeeper to Eastbourne United AFC manager Brian Dennis.
The United boss has been foiled in his attempts to sign three keepers and after Saturday's FA Cup exit to Epsom, Dennis told his only senior keeper James Firman, that he will never play in the first team again.
After losing last year's reliable stopper Sam Reed to a football scholarship in America, the United boss has tried to sign Joe Adams from Ringmer, Greg Nessling from Town and Seb Barton from Lewes.
Two of the three transfer targets agreed to sign with United before changing their minds. Ex-Town player Greg Nessling chose to go Hastings as understudy to Chris May while ex-Boro man Seb Barton, who recently had trials at Forest Green, Burgess Hill and Lewes, agreed to sign on Tuesday before texting a furious Dennis, stating he was staying at Lewes.
"I can't believe it," lamented Dennis. "These keepers are not playing first team football. They have turned down decent offers to sit on the bench. What experience are they gaining by doing that?
"Some players think they are too good to come down into the County League and would rather sit on a bench with no chance of playing, than playing first team football week in week out.
"We told these lads if a club from a higher league came in we would not stand in their way. But they will not get noticed and progress their careers if they are on a bench."
The United keeper crisis has handed a chance to 16-year-old youth team player David Brooks. The youngster will be thrown into the first team at Horsham YMCA tomorrow.
Dennis added, "This is big chance for David. I have heard a lot of good things about him and he could solve a real headache for us."
Leon Cummings, Steve Morris, Danny Andrews will miss the game with injury.
Carl Harris and Steve Hunt will have late fitness tests.
