New striker Lyle Taylor came off the bench to score a dramatic winner for Eastbourne Borough with the last kick of the game.
Maximum points meant the first ever Blue Square Premier double for Garry Wilson's men who secured a 2-1 triumph against Stevenage to climb out of the relegation zone.

Setanta TV were covering the match, the first to be televised live at Priory Lane, netting Borough a welcome financial boost of £8,000.

A shirt-sleeved crowd of 1,618 enjoyed a competitive encounter which looked to be heading for a draw as the teams entered stoppage-time all square.

But just a minute after Luke Oliver's glancing header had gone agonisingly wide at the other end for Stevenage, Borough swept upfield with sub Pat Harding and Matt Smart combining well before Smart picked out Taylor on the 18-yard line.

The Millwall loanee took his time before burying the ball low to the right of diving keeper Chris Day. As the game restarted the final whistle went.

The goal was afterwards described as 'the most important of my career' by the 18-year-old who had replaced Andy Atkin in the 73rd minute.

But if Taylor could be happy with his second outing in Eastbourne colours, another loanee could feel equally pleased with his debut.

Brentford defender Karl Osborne gave an assured performance in the home defence which looked tighter than it has done for weeks.

And summer signing Simon Wormull crowned his best performance in Borough colours with a spectacular goal just before half-time.

Boro put together some pleasing first half moves without reward. When Matt Crabb's corner was cleared as far as Wormull, the midfielder's shot into a crowded goalmouth was directed over the bar from close range by Matt Smart.

Corners were also causing problems at the other end with Michael Bostwick volleying over following a dangerous flag-kick.

The best home move came in the 38th minute when Crabb, Jay Lovett and Atkin combined to set up Allan Tait whose low, angled drive from the right flew inches past the far post.

But it was Borough who had the biggest let-off as Mitchell Cole's cracking drive cannoned off the crossbar.

As both sides struggled to break the deadlock in the second half, the game badly needed a goal. And it came in the 56th minute when Atkin's perfect ball to the right of the goal area was met by a stunning drive into the far top corner of the net by Wormull.

It was a strike that looked a good candidate for Setanta's goal of the month, but Borough were not celebrating for long.

In the 64th minute Cole ran at the Borough defence and Jay Lovett could only poke the ball into the path of Eddie Anaclet whose shot went under Lee Hook.

It was anybody's game now and Hook did well to punch a fierce drive from sub Tommy Black round the post.

After three successive defeats it looked as if Borough were going to have to be content with a share of the points.

But Taylor had other ideas, his magnificent winning goal in injury-time ensuring a first win since September 2 when they beat Forest Green.
