Eastbourne United AFC hope to solve their goalkeeping crisis by signing Nick Maynard from Eastbourne Borough reserves.
Brian Dennis has put in a seven day letter for the 20-year-old stopper and is hoping to have him available for the Saturday's home match against Hassocks.

Dennis said, "I have spoken to Garry Wilson and now it is all down to whether the lad wants to sign for us. If he does hopefully we can push the deal through and sort it out in time for this weekend.

"He has a bit experience and a few of my players know him and rate him highly. I think he would be a good signing and he could solve a problem for us which has dragged on for a bit too long."

Dennis was disappointed with United's midweek John O'Hara Cup performance against Westfield at the Oval on Wednesday night.

United let a two goal lead slip and will have to play the division two outfit in a replay yet to be scheduled.

"We did the hard part by getting the goals and we should have killed the game off but our defending was woeful. We let them back in the game and I was not happy about that."

John Suter's Hassocks visit the Oval on Saturday and Dennis is urging his side to show the form that beat Three Bridges and Horsham YMCA last week.
