Busy Bognor golfers pick up plenty of silver
Bognor’s over-50s open four-ball team event attracted 128 visitors. The best three scores from each team count at each hole. With the high numbers playing, the competition was split with prizes for the morning and the afternoon. All visitors agreed the course was in wonderful condition.
Results: AM winners Slinfold (Jeff King, Freddy Lane, Andrew Treversham and Ian Gibson) 113pts; PM winners Waterlooville (David Pusey, Allan Walker, Steve Langworthy and Mark Lovett) 113pts. Overall winner – Waterlooville (on countback). Bognor’s 2013 men’s captain presented both teams with their prizes. Congratulations also go to Highwoods Golf Club, who also scored 113 points in the afternoon session but lost on countback.

Hide AdBognor’s scratch team made the long journey along the coast to Cooden Beach near Eastbourne. They made the trip the afternoon before the game for a practice round. It paid dividends as the team won 8-4.
The morning foursomes were halved 2-2, but Bognor had an excellent afternoon winning the singles 6-2.
Results: Fousomes – James Ashman & Andy Brown won 6&4, Nathan Parke & James MacLean lost 4&3, Tom Lea & Shaun Maskell lost 3&2, Martin & Henry Leo won 2&1; Singles – Tom Lea won 3&2, Andy Brown won 5&3, Martin Leo lost, Nathan Parke lost, Henry Leo won 3&2, James Ashman won 4&3, Shaun Maskell won 3&2, James MacLean won 1 up.
Andy Brown takes the scratch team to West Hove and the end of July in the quarter-finals.
