The 29-year-old Irishman has not always enjoyed the best of fortunes in the FA Cup.

He was part of the Crawley side that lost a 2-0 lead at Telford in the fourth round and came on as a substitute at Hereford where his former club Brighton were knocked out at the same stage.

But an upbeat Armstrong, who scored Boro's winner from the penalty spot in the last round against Bromley, is looking forward to leading his unbeaten side out at Priory Lane tomorrow.

He said, "This will be our biggest match of the season and there is no reason at all why we can't beat Weymouth.

"We have every chance of getting a result. We are unbeaten at home and Weymouth have not been doing that great.

"We will have to play well but I also think the weather could be a factor. The wind is supposed to pick up on Saturday and that could make a big difference.

"It gets pretty bad at Priory Lane and if it is blowing, it will definitely be a case of a game of two halves."

Armstrong added, "It is going to be a great match. The FA Cup is always a fantastic occasion. We had a good crowd against Bromley and we got a standing ovation after that match.

"Hopefully we can get in a few hundred more and generate an even better atmosphere.

"We have the chance of achieving something the club has never done before and I would like to be a part of that."

The Irish goal-scoring midfielder is currently enjoying one of the best spells of his career. His consistent performances after joining the club from Crawley quickly established the captain as a firm favourite with the Priory Lane faithful.

The former Brighton and Hove man added, "It's very pleasing to be the captain of a winning side and obviously life is much better when you are winning.

"We have a great squad here who have a lot of experience. Darren Baker has played over 700 games, Neil Jenkins, Marc Pullan, Ben Austin, Allan Tait, Matt Smart – the list goes on.

"They all know what this standard is about and hopefully we can get the right result and be in the draw for the next round ."
